Speaker Bagbin advocates for a hung Parliament as a check on executive power in Ghana

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, emphasized the importance of having a hung Parliament as a crucial check on the governing party and the executive.

He stated that a hung Parliament prevents the imposition of policies, programs, and initiatives on Ghanaians through force-feeding them in Parliament.

Speaking at a public forum in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, during the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Parliament under the 4th Republic, Bagbin urged Ghanaians to ensure a balanced representation in both the majority and minority sides of the House.

He emphasized the need for supporting the legislature to compel successive governments to adhere to the national development plan and avoid implementing their own programs without due consideration.
