Jasikan Catholic Bishop urges reconciliation and peace in Nkwanta amid curfew

Rev. Fr. Gabriel A.A Mantey, the Catholic Bishop of Jasikan, has called on the youth and people of Nkwanta to reconcile and work towards bringing peace and development to the area.

The appeal comes after a mediation meeting in Papase, Kejebi, following the imposition of a curfew in the Nkwanta Township in the Oti Region due to renewed violence that resulted in six deaths.

Expressing concern over the partial closure of the biggest market in the area due to traders’ fear of further skirmishes, Rev. Fr. Mantey emphasized the need for peace to facilitate development.

He stated that leaders have agreed on measures to address the situation during the mediation meeting.
