Amma Busia, the former first vice-chair of the New Patriotic Party and sister of the late Kofi Abrefa Busia, Ghana’s prime minister in the Second Republic, has passed away.
She was a member of the NPP’s Council of Elders and passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, after a brief illness at the Nyaho Medical Centre in Accra.
Amma Busia, aged 87, was known for her active role in political activism during the 1970s and 1980s, particularly campaigning against the government of Ignatius Kutu Acheampong.
She was arrested seven times for her activism.
