Former Energy Minister accuses NPP Officials of $160m judgment debt

Former Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, has accused former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and officials from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration of making a decision to terminate the power purchase agreement with the Ghana Power Generating Company (GPGC), leading to a $160 million judgment debt.

Dr. Kwabena Donkor stated that this new debt would be borne by the Ghanaian people, including farmers, youth, and women.

He argued that there were alternative options available at the time of the termination, and those involved should face an investigation.

Additionally, Dr. Kwabena Donkor expressed disappointment with Boakye Agyarko’s comments, describing his earlier statement as “irresponsible and most unfortunate.”

He cautioned Agyarko never to speak in such a manner again, emphasizing that leaders should take responsibility for their actions.
