The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has decided to call off its planned strike after engaging in discussions with the National Labour Commission (NLC) to address concerns regarding their conditions of service.
The strike had been initiated by the Mortuary Workers due to unresolved issues, including low wages, inadequate working conditions, and a lack of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Richard Kofi Jordan, the General Secretary of the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana, affirmed that the workers would continue to provide their essential services while maintaining ongoing dialogue with the government.
He also addressed concerns about delayed funerals, reassuring the public, “All those who have done funerals and are afraid that they might not have their bodies, I’m sorry to disappoint them; the bodies are there. Everybody should go pick up his/her body tomorrow, or Friday.”
