Ghana prepares for 5G network transition- NCA Director General

The Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Joe Anokye, has revealed that Ghana is making preparations to transition to the 5G network soon.

He mentioned that the required spectrum for 5G is currently available, and an official announcement regarding the migration to 5G is expected in 2024.

Speaking at the 12th R. P. Baffour Memorial lectures at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Anokye called on various institutions to enhance local internet services to ensure the effectiveness of the 5G system once implemented.

Additionally, in collaboration with the National Media Commission, Anokye reiterated the NCA’s commitment to addressing television operators broadcasting “undesirable content.”

The theme of the lecture, “KNUST After 70: A New Age for a Renewed Focus in an era of disruptive technologies,” highlighted the contributions of products from the University in various areas, and Anokye, who is an alumnus of KNUST, emphasized the role of disruptive technologies in the current era.
