Mahama vows Ministry consolidation for budget efficiency

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized his intention to consolidate certain ministries in order to reduce expenditures, including salaries.

He explained that reallocating these funds would enable the payment of assembly members. If his party emerges victorious in the 2024 elections, Mahama affirmed his commitment to implementing this plan.

He criticized the current administration, alleging redundancy in ministries with similar functions under the New Patriotic Party, contending that the cost of one ministry could cover the salaries of at least 6,000 assembly members.

These statements were made during his “Building the Ghana We Want Tour.”

On a related note, Yakubu Lezer, the Acting Chief Imam at Duayaw Nkwanta, urged Mr. Mahama to fulfill his 2020 manifesto promise to construct a mortuary for Muslims.

Additionally, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, encouraged the residents of Tano North to turn out in large numbers and cast their votes overwhelmingly for the NDC to secure power.
