Mahama asserts NDC will commence processes to select a running mate for 2024 Election next year

Former President John Dramani Mahama has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be responsible for selecting his running mate for the upcoming 2024 election.

This comes in response to calls from some traditional authorities in Asunafo South advocating for the NDC flagbearer to consider their MP, Eric Opoku, for the position.

Similar sentiments have been expressed by the queen mother of the Bono Traditional Council, who called for a Bono native to be chosen for the role.

Mahama emphasized that while the role is significant, there are established procedures for selecting the right person.

Speaking at a public engagement in the Ahafo Region, he called for calm within the party as decisions are made.

Mahama explained that, following tradition, the party has a process for choosing candidates for various roles, including the selection of a running mate.

He clarified that the process, involving the Presidential candidate, National executives, and Council of Elders, will commence next year.
