Minority in Parliament commends Otumfo Osei Tutu ll for “Heal Komfo Anokye Initiative”

The Minority in Parliament has expressed commendation for Otumfo Osei Tutu Ababio ll, the Asantehene, for his visionary leadership in introducing the “Heal Komfo Anokye Initiative.”

The initiative aims to raise funds for the renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, a critical medical facility serving about 12 regions as a referral center.

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, a member of the Health Committee, addressed the press, emphasizing the significance of the Komfo Anokye hospital and the need for government support in its renovation.

The hospital, constructed in 1954, plays a vital role in the healthcare system and requires urgent attention.

The Minority highlighted that only 15% of government hospital facilities undergo maintenance annually, posing potential dangers to patients and hospital staff. The lack of upkeep has led to a decline in public confidence in the healthcare system.

The Minority called on the President to promptly renovate all dilapidated facilities and complete outstanding hospital projects.

The Minority also raised concerns about the poor state of hospitals, asserting that it has driven many health workers to abandon their duties and seek employment opportunities in other countries.

They emphasized that inadequate equipment in hospitals hampers the effective discharge of healthcare duties.

In a show of solidarity, the Minority pledged to contribute towards the fundraising for the Komfo Anokye hospital’s renovation.

They encouraged more Ghanaians to join in supporting the “Heal Komfo Anokye Initiative.” Additionally, the group urged the government to ensure the judicious use of taxes paid by citizens.
