Arrests made as Persons With Disabilities picket at Roads and Highways Ministry

In a development at the Roads and Highways Ministry, some Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) who were picketing over the alleged unfulfilled promises regarding job engagements have been arrested by the police.

The Persons With Disabilities decided to stage a protest at the ministry, expressing their dissatisfaction with the failure to engage them since 2021 when tollbooth services were suspended nationwide.

They argue that they have been left unemployed and struggling to make ends meet since the cancellation of road tolls.

The picketers sought to draw attention to their plight, emphasizing the challenges they face in their daily lives due to the lack of employment opportunities. However, the situation escalated, leading to police intervention and subsequent arrests.

Authorities are yet to provide an official statement regarding the arrests and the concerns raised by the PWDs.
