In a strong and unequivocal statement, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK Communications Directorate has condemned the recent comments made by Honorable Sam George, Member of Parliament and Church Leader, directed towards the newly elected leader of the NPP, H.E Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.
Sam George has been gaining notoriety for what has been described as “squeamish and silly comments” during his media engagements, with the latest incident involving a rant against Dr. Bawumia on matters ranging from religion to party leadership.
The NPP UK characterized George’s remarks as “dishonorable, disgusting, and divisive,” asserting that such language falls short of the expectations for a Member of Parliament.
The party expressed its full condemnation of the derogatory terms used by George and called on him, as a Church Leader, to refrain from employing such inflammatory language in his public engagements.
The statement emphasized the need for George to recognize his role as a role model for the constituents and citizens at large, urging him to exhibit courtesy in his communications.
The NPP UK underscored that the use of such language not only reflects poorly on George personally but also on the party he represents.
Leaders, including George, were reminded of their responsibility to lead by example and to be mindful of the impact of their words and actions in building a stronger democracy in Ghana.
The NPP UK highlighted the recent visit by Dr. Bawumia to religious organizations as a positive sign of unity and collaboration across faiths and backgrounds, contrasting it with George’s comments.
The press release concluded with the NPP UK expressing its unwavering commitment to the progress and prosperity of Ghana, the NPP, and the principles of unity and inclusivity.
