The Board Chairman of the National Theatre, Nana Fredua-Agyeman Ofori-Atta, has acknowledged the concerns surrounding the current state of the facility, emphasizing the board’s commitment to addressing these issues.

The acknowledgment comes in response to recent protests by workers expressing discontent over delayed promotions and the deteriorating condition of the theatre.

Addressing the media at a press conference, Nana Fredua-Agyeman Ofori-Atta outlined measures being taken by the management to secure funds for the much-needed refurbishment of the National Theatre.

He stressed the significance of the theatre as a cultural institution and assured the public that steps are being taken to address its challenges.

The board chairman expressed dissatisfaction with media reports alleging mismanagement by the Executive Director, as claimed by protesting workers.

In response to the current situation, Nana Fredua-Agyeman Ofori-Atta revealed the board’s intention to retain the current Executive Director on contract while actively searching for a replacement.

He emphasized that this decision aligns with the National Theatre’s best interests, considering the difficult circumstances it currently faces.
