The Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, Dan Botwe, has initiated the construction of the long-neglected Kasoa Ofaakor-Jei River road in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
The 3.7-kilometer Kasoa Ofaakor to Jei River road will undergo comprehensive upgrades, including Bituminous Surfacing (Tarred), the construction of bridges, culverts, and drains.
The project, estimated at GH¢35.3 million, is part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP), demonstrating the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
During the program’s launch, Minister Dan Botwe emphasized the importance of engaging local residents in the construction process.
He called on the contractor to provide temporary job opportunities for the people of the area, contributing to community development.
As the Member of Parliament for the Okere constituency, Minister Botwe underscored the critical role of well-constructed roads in the overall development agenda of the President and the Vice President.
He urged the contractor to prioritize durability, ensuring that the road withstands the test of time and serves the community effectively.
In her remarks, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, affirmed the government’s commitment to constructing quality roads in the Awutu Senya constituency.
She emphasized the transformative impact of such projects on local communities.
Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan, appealed to residents to cooperate by removing structures from the roadside.
