The Minister of Local Government and Decentralization, Dan Botwe, has officially marked the commencement of a transformative project by cutting the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern market facility in the Agona West Municipality.
The initiative, financed by the World Bank, aims to revitalize the local commercial landscape.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister Dan Botwe expressed confidence in the project’s timely completion by 2024.
He underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring strict adherence to the construction timeline, emphasizing the significance of timely project delivery.
The Mandela market in the Agona West Municipality is part of the larger initiative comprising 35 secondary city projects, all funded through a World Bank loan.
Minister Dan Botwe, who also represents Okere as a Member of Parliament, highlighted the anticipated positive impact of the state-of-the-art market project.
According to him, the project once completed, is expected to serve as a catalyst for increased commercial activities, providing a modern and conducive space for traders and customers alike.
The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan, joined in the ceremony and appealed to residents to cooperate by removing structures from the roadside.
