The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the implementation of measures to ensure that schools in areas affected by flooding can continue providing education despite the closure of schools due to the Akosombo Dam spillage.
The spillage has led to the flooding of numerous schools and homes, resulting in the displacement of students and residents.
In response to the challenges posed by the flooding, the GES is working to prevent a disruption of vital class hours for students in the affected areas.
The closure of schools and the displacement of students have prompted some affected residents to seek shelter in classrooms, creating difficulties for schools to operate.
During a tour of the affected schools, Dr. Eric Nkansah, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, assured that efforts are being made to ensure that teaching and learning can continue despite the challenging circumstances.
According to him, some students have resorted to learning under trees, raising concerns about the impact on the quality of education.
