Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the Energy Minister, has praised the management of the Volta River Authority (VRA) for its efficiency in contributing to the government’s electricity expansion efforts.
He highlighted the crucial role played by the VRA in achieving an impressive 88.58% electricity penetration rate across the country.
The Minister acknowledged the VRA’s significant contribution to the government’s objective of ensuring widespread access to electricity for citizens.
Responding to concerns from some Ghanaians regarding the resettlement of victims affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage, Dr. Opoku-Prempeh affirmed that the VRA has been effectively addressing the issue.
However, he suggested that the matter of resettlement should be entrusted to the Inter-ministerial committee currently examining the situation.
The Energy Minister explained that the committee will formulate recommendations concerning the resettlement matter, which will then be presented to Parliament for consideration.
