Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah Bonsu, Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has penned an open letter to former President John Mahama, in which he strongly criticizes his tenure as President of Ghana and accuses him of corruption and dishonesty.
The letter expresses vehement disapproval of Mahama’s leadership and addresses several allegations of corruption during his presidency.
Bonsu begins the letter by declaring his belief that Ghana endured its worst government in recent history during Mahama’s presidency.
He accuses the NDC government, led by Mahama, of normalizing corruption, polarizing the nation, demonstrating incompetence, and cruelty.
The letter criticizes the administration for numerous corruption scandals and unethical practices that occurred during Mahama’s tenure.
The letter highlights specific corruption allegations during Mahama’s presidency, including the Circle Interchange deal, overpricing of the Ameri Energy deal, the Smarttys bus branding scandal, the GYEEDA scandal, the SADA corruption, and the Ford bribery scandal.
Furthermore, Bonsu questions Mahama about allegations of laundering $1 billion through Nigeria into Ghana in the run-up to the 2016 election.
He also mentions the existence of a mysterious vault containing laundered money in Mahama’s residence. The letter questions the source of the funds and whether they have been used for political propaganda or personal enrichment.
Additionally, the letter brings up the issue of Lordina, Mahama’s wife, spending $600,000 on shopping at Selfridges in London and implies that political influence has been used to accumulate wealth.
The letter concludes by stating that Mahama’s alleged corruption and unethical behavior make him unfit for public office, and the people of Ghana should not trust him to keep corruption out of politics.
