The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed his dedication to achieving economic stability in Ghana if he is elected in the 2024 general elections.
During a manifesto presentation by the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Mahama highlighted his commitment to implementing practical economic policies aimed at reducing public debt, combating inflation, and reducing the central bank’s financing of the government through the Bank of Ghana.
Mahama stressed the importance of halting the current economic downturn and restoring stability to Ghana’s financial situation.
He also pledged to address the inflationary pressures that have negatively affected the income of Ghanaian citizens and the working population.
Additionally, Mahama promised to put in place stringent measures to protect the rights of workers, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare and well-being of the labor force.
Dr. Yaw Baah, the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, called for a comprehensive review of the macroeconomic policy framework to create jobs, ensure food security, address housing needs, and uphold workers’ rights.
