Unregulated sale of family lands sparks concerns in Kukurantumi, Eastern Region

Residents of Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region are expressing serious concerns about the unregulated sale of family lands, allegedly being carried out by traditional authorities in the area.

They also argue that the forceful takeover of farmlands is jeopardizing the area’s peace and leaving farmers without means of livelihood.

Some of the affected farmers claim that these lands are being sold to real estate developers and individuals.

They are appealing to the traditional authorities to cease the sale of these lands, warning of potential consequences if their pleas are ignored.

Nana Afoakwa Kyerewaa I has suggested that the government should acquire a sufficient amount of land to meet the demands of the “planting for food and jobs” policy.
