The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called for the establishment of a new world order that can more effectively manage conflicts, deliver justice, restore people’s trust in leadership across various sectors of society, instill hope and optimism, and promote peace, love, and happiness.
Additionally, Mr. Bagbin proposed a reform of the United Nations Charter, citing its inadequacy in addressing current global realities.
He suggested that the Charter should be revised to be more responsive, democratic, inclusive, and in line with modern governance requirements and structures.
The reform should aim to create a fair, just, and sustainable future for all, establish norms, and enact enforceable laws to regulate the conduct of nations in areas where the global community faces significant challenges.
These remarks were made during the 24th International Conference of Chief Justices, organized by the City Montessori School in Lucknow, India.
The conference, attended by representatives from 63 countries, operated under the theme “Uniting the world for children through enforceable world law and effective global governance.”
