The New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is currently in power, is diligently preparing for its upcoming polls scheduled for Saturday, November 4, 2023.
These polls are aimed at selecting a flagbearer for the 2024 general elections. Over 200,000 party delegates will participate in this significant election, which the party considers as a crucial step in breaking the eight-year election cycle jinx.
Among the candidates initially contending for the position, the party has narrowed down the list to four aspirants who will compete to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The four candidates in the race are Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, and former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh.
While Dr. Bawumia has been favored by numerous pollsters to win the election, it is anticipated that he will face strong competition, particularly from Kennedy Agyapong.
