Alan Kyerematen resigned from NPP because he placed 3rd in the Super Delegates Conference- Frederick Opare-Ansah

Frederick Opare-Ansah, a member of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has suggested that Alan Kyerematen’s decision to resign from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was primarily driven by his dissatisfaction with his third-place finish in the party’s super delegates conference.

In an interview with Citi TV on Tuesday, October 31, the former Suhum MP argued that Alan’s claims of unfairness in the organization of the race leading to his resignation were exaggerated.

Opare-Ansah also highlighted reports indicating that agents representing Alan Kyerematen were involved in causing disruptions at one of the conference centers. According to him, “From what I heard, he was unhappy about the position he received, but that, in my opinion, shouldn’t have been the way he chose to exit the NPP.”

He added, “I have also listened to what happened, and, in fact, the attack was initiated by his agent going out of his way to take on a function that is not his own.”

During the NPP’s super delegates conference, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured victory with 629 votes (68.15%), followed by Kennedy Agyapong with 132 votes.

Alan Kyerematen came in third with 95 votes (10.29%). Alan announced his resignation from the NPP on September 25, citing biased and unfair processes.

However, Opare-Ansah argued that Alan’s concerns were not substantial and that he could have waited for a proper investigation before taking further action.

Meanwhile, the party is scheduled to hold polls on Saturday, November 4, 2023, to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 election.
