Mankessim traders call for removal of MP and MCE over deteriorating market conditions

Market women and traders in Mankessim, located in the Central region, have declared their intention to remove their Member of Parliament (MP), Ophelia Mensah Hayford, from office.

They also seek the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive for Mfantseman, Ike Lord Ennu, in the Mfantseman Municipality.

The traders are lodging complaints against these two officials, alleging that they have not taken any action to address the deteriorating sanitation conditions in their local markets.

They assert that the situation is worsening day by day.

During interactions with the media, the traders explained that the growing filth and unhygienic state of the market are contributing to cholera outbreaks, especially during rainy seasons.

They also mentioned that the sewage from toilets flows through the market, and piled-up refuse in the area has not been collected.

The traders feel that their concerns have fallen on deaf ears, as they have repeatedly reported these market issues to the local authorities.

Despite regularly paying their market fees, they have seen no improvements or actions taken to address the situation.
