Aspiring Assemblyman donates educational materials to address rising teenage pregnancy in Ga South Municipality

Smart Nana Kusi, an aspiring Assemblyman of the Abensu Electoral Area in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, has raised concerns about the increasing rate of teenage pregnancy in the municipality.

He attributes this issue to parents’ inability to provide educational materials for their children.

According to records from the Municipal Education Directorate, there were hundreds of cases of pregnant female students who recently took the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

During an interview at a brief presentation ceremony where he donated one thousand exercise books and footballs, Smart Nana Kusi emphasized that the rising cost of educational materials in the market has made it challenging for parents to provide a quality education for their children.

He reiterated that this situation forces children to seek support from others, ultimately leading to teenage pregnancies.

He believes that this initiative, which provides educational materials at this critical time, will offer significant relief to parents and their children in the Abensu community.

Naa Agamu, the Queenmother of the Muslim Community within the Pokuase Traditional Area, commended Mr. Kusi for his initiative and urged parents to prioritize meeting the educational needs of their children.
