Social media has been flooded with criticism following comments made by the Sanitation Minister, Freda Prempeh, in which she attributed blame to flood victims affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
She accused them of not heeding early warnings to evacuate, a statement that has drawn sharp condemnation from the public.
In her remarks, the Minister asserted that the victims had refused to relocate despite numerous warnings from the Volta River Authority (VRA) and other state agencies.
However, a significant section of the Ghanaian public took to social media to express their disapproval of the Minister’s stance.
They highlighted the hardships faced by the flood victims, most of whom are now displaced and in dire need of assistance.
Critics of the Minister’s statement have called for a more empathetic and constructive approach to assist the flood victims and ensure their safety and well-being.
