Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and a prominent candidate for the NPP flagbearer position, has expressed his frustration with what he considers to be a barrage of lies and false narratives being spread about him by his political opponents.
He made these remarks while on the campaign trail in preparation for the NPP’s upcoming presidential primary, scheduled for November 4.
Dr. Bawumia suggested that his opponents are resorting to fabricating stories in an attempt to sow discord within the party and undermine his candidacy.
He referred to this as a new tactic employed by his rivals who are concerned about their chances of victory in the upcoming primary.
Specifically, Dr. Bawumia refuted allegations that he had provided financial incentives and vehicles to constituency chairmen, stating that such claims were baseless.
He also denied advocating for sitting MPs to contest their primaries unopposed.
Dr. Bawumia is facing a competitive race for the NPP flagbearer position, with contenders like Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and Addae Nimo vying for the ticket.
The party aims to secure victory in the 2024 elections as they strive to break the traditional 8-year electoral cycle in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
