The Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, has declined the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) request to disqualify Justice Edward Twum from the Cecilia Dapaah case.

The OSP had submitted a petition claiming that Justice Twum displayed bias against the OSP and sought his removal from all cases involving Cecilia Dapaah. However, the Chief Justice dismissed this petition.

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, the OSP disclosed that, “On October 25, 2023, the Judicial Secretary conveyed that the Chief Justice is unable to grant the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) request for Justice Edward Twum to be recused and removed from all cases related to the OSP pending before him.”
