The leadership of the Ghana Fulanis Association has expressed deep concern regarding a decision made by the chiefs of Kwahu during the recent Akwasidae celebration in Kwahu Abene.
The chiefs have demanded one hundred cattle from the Fulanis residing in Kwahu for the final funeral rites of the late Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II.
The General Secretary of the association, Alhaji Yakubu Mussah Barry, expressed his disappointment in what he sees as a double standard in the lifestyle of some Kwahu chiefs.
He mentioned that earlier this year, the same chiefs had collaborated with their district chief executive to evict all cattle herders residing in Kwahu and its surroundings, which had tragic consequences, including the beheading of two innocent Fulani individuals.
Alhaji Yakubu Mussah Barry highlighted that these very chiefs have now ordered the cattle herders to provide one hundred cattle to support the upcoming final funeral rites of the late paramount chief, even though they had previously confiscated thousands of cattle and left many herders unemployed.
