Kumasi City market traders appeal to Minister for Local Government to address transparency and management concerns

Traders at the Kumasi City Market are appealing to the Minister of Local Government and Regional Reinterpretation, Hon. Dan Kwaku Botchey, to intervene in the management of the market and address the persistent challenges they face.

According to the aggrieved traders, the market’s management lacks transparency and fails to provide clear information to them, causing frequent misunderstandings between the traders and management.

Mr. Kwabena Agyei, the leader of the aggrieved traders, voiced their concerns during a two-day period when the market had no electricity connectivity.

He explained that the management refuses to disclose the total amount of monthly bills sent to the traders, creating suspicion of potential exploitation.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Kwabena Agyei emphasized the need for intervention and better communication between the traders and the market’s management.

Some of the traders shared their challenges, citing poor management as a major cause of business difficulties and the collapse of some businesses.

The traders hope that the Minister of Local Government and Regional Reinterpretation will address these issues and improve transparency and cooperation between the traders and market management.
