Mr. Christopher Appiah Mensah, the Headmaster of New Edubiase Senior High School, has urged parents and guardians not to discourage children who choose vocational and arts education as their preferred path.
He emphasized that vocational and arts education should not be viewed as suitable only for academically weak students. Instead, he encouraged parents to support their children’s dreams, especially those interested in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Visual Arts, and Home Economics.
Mr. Appiah Mensah highlighted that vocational and technical education is crucial for a country’s development and should not be stigmatized.
He pointed out that these programs are essential for job creation and industrialization. He advised parents to allow their children to choose subjects and courses that align with their strengths, talents, and skills, with guidance from school authorities.
He emphasized the importance of changing the culture of parents pushing their children into courses they are not interested in, as it often hinders their potential.
Mr. Appiah Mensah also mentioned the need to address challenges in the school, such as incomplete infrastructure projects, malfunctioning laboratory equipment, security concerns, and vehicle shortages.
Mr. Christopher Appiah Mensah made these statements during the First Annual Exhibition Conference organized by the Visual Arts and Home Economics Department of New Edubiase Senior High School under the theme “Vocational and Art Education are not for Daft-minded People, Yet it has been the hope for calming down unemployment Among the Youth.”
