Dormaahene advocates fairness in mining benefits for local communities

Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyeman Badu II, the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has expressed his commitment to balancing the benefits of mining for his community.

While acknowledging the importance of mining for economic growth and opportunities, he also recognizes the need for fairness and local benefit.

The Dormaahene is not against mining but is concerned that mining operations often benefit outsiders more than the local community.

He believes that mining companies should contribute a higher percentage of their profits to the local citizens, ensuring that the community benefits more from its natural resources.

During a cleanup exercise in Kwabena Dwomokrom, in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyeman Badu II addressed the residents, sharing his concerns and vision for a fairer mining system.

He emphasized the importance of curbing illegal logging in the area as well, particularly due to its proximity to the Mpamso forest.

The chief of Kwabena Dwomokrom, Nana Oppong Kyekyeku, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community for Dormaahene’s support and visitation, highlighting the importance of working together to achieve positive change in the mining industry.
