The General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers’ Union of the Trades Union Congress (GTPCWU-TUC) has called on President Akufo-Addo to address issues of corporate governance at the board level of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).
The union has expressed concerns about the competence and integrity of the current TOR Board of Directors and believes that their actions are detrimental to the refinery’s operations and the public purse.
According to the GTPCWU-TUC, the Board of Directors has engaged in questionable dealings related to securing a credible strategic partner for TOR.
They argue that the board appointments appear to be influenced by political considerations rather than competence.
The union is urging the President to intervene by dissolving the board and restoring maturity in corporate governance at TOR to ensure that decisions are made with integrity.
Mr. Bernard Owusu, the National Chairman of the General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers’ Union, addressed the press on this matter.
