A 65-year-old woman named Aunty Akua Esther and a 45-year-old businessman named Samuel Yako-hene Dogbe were allegedly assaulted by a group of about 20 members of the ECG (Electricity Company of Ghana) national monitoring team in Adade, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The incident left Aunty Akua Esther at risk of losing her sight, while Samuel Yako-hene Dogbe sustained serious injuries.
According to Madam Akua Esther, she heard a commotion involving the ECG staff outside her home, and when she approached them to inquire, they told her she had no right to question their actions.
This led to a minor dispute between her son and the ECG staff. When Samuel Yako-hene Dogbe attempted to leave the house to attend to his customers, the ECG officials allegedly blocked the gate and physically assaulted him, resulting in injuries and bleeding from his mouth and other parts of his body.
Madam Esther recounted that she was slapped multiple times and fell into a gutter during the altercation. She expressed her disappointment as they had not engaged in illegal electrical connections.
Both victims were rushed to the Kasoa Polyclinic for medical attention, and the matter has been reported to the police for investigation.
Samuel Yako-Hene Dogbe called for a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served for him and his elderly aunt, Aunty Akua Esther. He believes that the ECG officials did not act appropriately in the situation.
