Minority Caucus refuses to present petition to BoG Director of Security, demands meeting with Governor

The Minority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament has refused to present its petition to the Director of Security at the Bank of Ghana (BoG) during the Occupy BoG protest.

The protest leaders declined to present the petition because the BoG Governor, Ernest Addison, was absent.

Wing Commander Kwame Asare Boateng, head of security at the Central Bank, was designated to receive the petition on behalf of Governor Addison.

However, Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson found this arrangement disrespectful and refused to present the petition. He insisted that the petition should be received by the governor himself.

The protesters were informed that Governor Addison was engaged in a meeting with a team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and was therefore unavailable at the time.

Despite this explanation, the Minority Leader stood firm in his decision, emphasizing that the petition should be presented to the governor in person.

As a result, the Minority Caucus vowed to return later when Governor Addison is available to receive the petition, making it clear that they would not present it to anyone else.

This incident occurred during the Occupy BoG protest, which is raising concerns and demands related to Ghana’s economy and financial policies.
