The Coalition of Ashaiman Residents has given the Ghanaian government a two-month ultimatum to initiate rehabilitation work on all the deplorable roads in Ashaiman.
This ultimatum comes in response to the recent protest by residents highlighting the poor state of the roads.
During the protest, a petition was submitted to the Chief Executive Officer of Ashaiman, Albert Boakye Okyere, by the assemblyman for the Nii Komieteh Electoral area, Freeman Tsekpo, on behalf of the residents.
In the petition, the residents expressed their intention to picket at the Ministry of Roads and Highways if road rehabilitation does not commence within the specified two months.
The roads in question include several sections of the Ashaiman Agyei Kwadwo main road, the Ashaiman overhead to Zenu road, and inner roads in the Ashaiman community.
Ernest Norgbey, the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, expressed concern over the government’s decision to deny residents access to quality roads.
He emphasized the need for immediate action to address the deteriorating road conditions, which have caused damage to vehicles and inconvenience to the community.
