Anthony Acquaye, a Security Policy Expert at the Center for Security Dialogue and Peace Advocacy, has urged all security and intelligence agencies in Ghana to enhance the country’s border security to prevent potential terrorists from entering the nation.
He has expressed concern about the vulnerabilities posed by numerous unapproved routes along Ghana’s borders, which could make it easier for terrorists to infiltrate the country.
In a press release signed by Mr. Anthony Acquaye, he emphasized the importance of implementing strong interoperable security measures and establishing a collaborative proactive intelligence network among Ghana and its neighboring countries.
Such measures, according to him, are crucial in addressing the common threat of terrorist attacks that have affected the sub-region.
Furthermore, Mr. Acquaye expressed disappointment in the Ministry of National Security for what he perceives as a lack of extensive public education regarding the potential threats posed by terrorists.
He stated emphatically that public awareness and education are essential components of a comprehensive national security strategy, and he suggests that more should be done in this regard to keep citizens informed and vigilant.
