The Tertiary Education Workers Union (TEWU), along with two other university unions, the Senior Staff Association of the University of Ghana (SSA-UoG) and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), has issued a two-week ultimatum to the government to reinstate their withheld allowances.

During a press conference in Accra, Dr. Beth Offei-Awuku, the National President of the Ghana Association of University Administrators, expressed concerns about the non-payment of these allowances, which is causing hardship for their members.

The unions have threatened to go on strike, withdrawing their services from all public universities in the country, if the government does not restore their allowances by October 15, 2023.
