The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its intentions to take actions aimed at removing the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Philip Anderson, from office.
The party has initiated a town hall meeting campaign to rally citizens for an “Occupy Bank of Ghana” demonstration scheduled for October 3, 2023.
During a town hall meeting held in Gbese, Accra, Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the NDC, emphasized that the protest should not be driven by political affiliations but should be participated in for the sake of future generations.
He also stated that the minority is prepared to challenge any police injunctions or actions that seek to hinder the protest.
Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, asserted that the protest is the beginning of efforts to compel the governor to resign.
He criticized the NPP, alleging that it prioritizes its own interests over those of Ghanaians and lacks the competence to govern effectively.
The protest, in his view, will send a message to the governor that he should step down due to his perceived incompetence.
