The Centre for Security Dialogue and Peace Advocacy has expressed its support for the decision made by the Minister of National Security, Kan Dapaah, to sue Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement.
Barker-Vormawor had alleged that Kan Dapaah and other government officials met with him in 2021 and offered him money in an attempt to silence him.
Barker-Vormawor made these allegations following his arrest, along with others, for staging a demonstration in Accra in violation of a restraining order obtained by the police.
Kan Dapaah’s lawsuit seeks various remedies, including a declaration that Barker-Vormawor’s statements are defamatory and a demand for ten million Ghana Cedis in general damages.
The Centre for Security Dialogue and Peace Advocacy’s support for Kan Dapaah’s legal action suggests its agreement with the minister’s efforts to clear his name and address the allegations made against him by Barker-Vormawor.
