The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat organized a conference focused on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to promote policies for the development and growth of SMEs across Africa.

AfCFTA aims to create a single market for goods and services and facilitate cross-border trade, offering significant economic growth and development opportunities for the continent.

The two-day conference gathered participants from various countries, including Kenya, Cameroon, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Togo, Benin, Ethiopia, and others. During the opening ceremony at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Prof. Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, the Rector of GIMPA (Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration), encouraged businesses in Ghana and Africa to leverage AfCFTA to expand their operations across the continent.

Prof. Kwaku Bonsu emphasized that AfCFTA, once fully implemented, will streamline the import and export processes across Africa and reduce barriers to the movement of people within the continent.

This initiative is expected to benefit not only large enterprises but also SMEs, which play a vital role in Africa’s commercial landscape.
