Chief of Kwahu Obo, Nana Afari Yeboah Obuadgyan, along with his elders, has requested the deployment of security personnel to Kwahu Osubeng in the Kwahu South Municipality to maintain peace and security in the area.
They also called on the Kwahu South Municipal Chief Executive, Emmanuel Atta Ofori Senior, to take urgent measures to ensure peace.
According to Nana Okofo Ampadu Kyeamire II, who represented Nana Afari Yeboah Obuadgyan, some youth from Osubeng community had attacked the Osubeng palace with the intention of dethroning the Odikro (chief) of the area, Nana Agyei Debrah Sasu II, without following customary and legal procedures.
The youth had leveled about 13 charges against the Odikro and threatened to depose him.
They had also engaged in various acts of lawlessness, including allegedly assaulting the Municipal Chief Executive and stripping the chief linguist of Obo.
The Akwamuhene of Obo, Nana Agyei Ankomah Asafoakaa, further claimed that there had been a high level of lawlessness in Osubeng, and he suggested that the military be deployed to the area to hold the lawless youth accountable.
He also raised concerns about the discovery of four dead bodies in the forest, suspecting foul play.
Both the chief and his elders called on the government to send security personnel to the area to restore order.
