Dormaahene summons Chiefs to sign undertaking against galamsey in the area

The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyeman Badu II, has taken a proactive step to address the issue of illegal mining, or galamsey, within his jurisdiction.

He has summoned chiefs under his paramountcy to appear at his palace on September 29, 2023, to sign an undertaking.

The decision to address galamsey issues came following the actions of the Osagyefo Anti-Galamsey Task Force, led by Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyeman Badu II.

The task force arrested eight individuals engaged in galamsey activities. Galamsey has had severe environmental consequences in Ghana, including damage to water bodies and farmlands.

Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyeman Badu II emphasized his commitment to preventing environmental degradation caused by galamsey and stated that he would not tolerate inaction on the matter.

In addition to addressing the galamsey issue, Osagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyeman Badu II also commented on recent protests organized by the group called Democracy Hub.

He urged the police to exercise caution when dealing with protestors and advised demonstrators to adhere to the measures established by the police when planning demonstrations.

Dormaahene condemned those spreading false information regarding marriages between Asantes and Bonos, emphasizing that he and his wife have been happily married for 40 years, with his wife being of Asante descent, without any issues.
