NCCE expresses concern over arrests at Democracy Hub demonstration, emphasizes Freedom of Assembly

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has expressed concern over the arrest of members of the Democracy Hub by the Ghana Police Service during their demonstration at the Jubilee House. In a statement released on September 25, 2023, the NCCE emphasized the importance of the freedom to assemble, including participating in processions and demonstrations, as a fundamental human right.

The statement noted that it is unfortunate that the Ghana Police Service still faces challenges in crowd control, even after thirty years of democracy. The NCCE called on Ghanaians, various stakeholders, and politicians to work together to preserve the democracy that the country enjoys today.
