The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has firmly stated its commitment to ensuring tax compliance and denied allegations of harassment in its efforts.

In response to recent claims by the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) that their members were being subjected to harassment by GRA task forces, Assistant Commissioner Joseph Annang, the Accra Area Manager for Enforcement at the GRA, emphasized that their actions are not meant to harass but to enforce tax laws.

He reiterated the GRA’s mandate to ensure taxpayers comply with tax laws and underlined that their activities are carried out within the framework of the law.

According to Assistant Joseph Annang, compliance with electronic Value Added Tax (VAT) laws is a key focus, and the inspection of electronic tax compliance invoices in selected shops in Accra is part of their ongoing efforts to achieve this goal.
