The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono East Region has strongly condemned a recent shooting incident that occurred during the Electoral Commission’s voter registration exercise in the Techiman South constituency.
According to reports, the incident unfolded when a young man attempted to bypass the long queue at a registration center, prompting a police officer on duty to intervene.
The police officer insisted that the individual join the queue in accordance with the registration process, which led to a dispute with some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who were present.
As tensions escalated, it was alleged that the police officer fired warning shots to disperse the crowd, resulting in panic and people fleeing the scene.
The NDC in the Bono East Region has expressed its strong disapproval of such incidents, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful and orderly registration process.
They called for a thorough investigation into the matter to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
