NDC accuses ECG of using military to intimidate residents in Revenue Mobilization Exercise

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya West Constituency of the Central Region has raised allegations against the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), accusing it of employing the military to intimidate residents during an ongoing revenue mobilization operation termed the “operation zero program.”

These statements were made in a press release issued by the NDC Awutu Senya West Communications Bureau.

As part of its efforts to collect outstanding debts from customers and crack down on illegal connections, the ECG has been conducting operations in various communities, often accompanied by security agencies.

However, the NDC in Awutu Senya West claims that the ECG, with the assistance of the military, is resorting to brute force and intimidation tactics that they find unacceptable.

They further contend that the presence of military personnel in the area has created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among community members, which they argue is detrimental to the harmonious coexistence of residents and the overall well-being of the community.
