Dome-Kwabenya MP Adwoa Sarfo issues apology to NPP leadership for prolonged absence

The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, has publicly issued an unqualified apology to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), notably President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other party officials.

In a video that has been circulating on social media platforms, Adwoa Sarfo offered an explanation for her prolonged absence from parliamentary duties, citing personal and family challenges.

Adwoa Sarfo, who had been absent from her parliamentary responsibilities for over a year following her trip to the United States, acknowledged the concerns and frustrations of party members and the public during her extended leave of absence.

Her vacant seat had sparked calls from some fellow MPs for it to be declared officially vacant.

In the video statement, Adwoa Sarfo expressed deep remorse and begged for forgiveness from the NPP leadership and supporters who had been anxiously awaiting her return to duty.

She assured them of her commitment to diligently serve her constituents and contribute to the party’s agenda once again.

Haruna Mohammed, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, responded to the situation, emphasizing the party’s established internal mechanisms for addressing disciplinary issues.

He indicated that the party would deliberate on whether any punitive measures should be taken regarding Adwoa Sarfo’s extended absence.
