Nana Obaatanpa Akosua Mmrah III, the Queen Mother of Wassa Mampong in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, passionately admonished journalists across the country to uphold diligence and thoroughness in the discharge of their noble duties.
In a powerful statement, she stressed the paramount importance of journalists conducting comprehensive investigations before disseminating information on radio or television platforms.
The remarkable call for journalistic integrity took place during a press conference, meticulously organized by the Wassa Mampong Traditional Council, where Queen Mother Nana Obaatanpa Akosua Mmrah III sought to debunk serious allegations leveled against the community’s traditional leaders.
The public was aflutter with accusations claiming that the revered Queen Mother and other traditional leaders had orchestrated the deportation of a lady named Adwoa Fowaa.
This purported expulsion followed the sentencing of Adeakyebia, the son of Wassa Mampong’s Queen Mother, to an eight-year prison term by the Bibiani Circuit. Adeakyebia’s conviction was in connection with the defilement of an innocent eleven-year-old daughter of Adwoa Fowaa.
In response to these grave allegations, Nana Obaatanpa Akosua Mmrah III, with grace and poise, emphatically denied any involvement in the deportation of Adwoa Fowaa and her family. Furthermore, she vehemently refuted claims that she had any intention of causing harm to Adwoa Fowaa, expressing instead her heartfelt prayers for the swift recovery of the victimized child, with hopes that she may resume her education.
In an exclusive interview with the media, Nana Obaatanpa Akosua Mmrah III reiterated her unwavering commitment to justice and fairness, calling for a thorough investigation into the matter at hand.
She emphasized that unfounded accusations could tarnish the reputation of individuals and disrupt the harmony within the community.
Adding his voice to the matter, Nana Kwasi Boah, the Senior Linguist of Wassa Mampong Traditional Council, made a resolute statement that the council had no prior knowledge of any alleged deportation of Adwoa Fowaa from the community. He further explained that, according to the revered traditions, any process of deportation must be carried out with the consent and participation of the entire traditional council.
Nana Kwasi Boah reaffirmed the council’s unwavering respect for the rule of law and emphasized that it has no authority to challenge the verdict of any court in the country.
Assuring the public, Nana Kwasi Boah pledged the full support and protection of the lady in question, affirming that she would continue to enjoy every benefit of a citizen within the community. He passionately appealed to the general public to dismiss baseless allegations and to stand in solidarity with the values of truth and fairness.
Finally, a group of traders at the Wassa Mampong community came forward to refute the accusations leveled against them. They strongly denied adhering to any directive from the Queen Mother, Nana Obaatanpa Akosua Mmrah III, not to sell any items to Adwoa Fowaa in the market. These traders vehemently declared that such allegations were utterly false and unfounded.
