The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, Justice Gertrude Esaaba Torkornoo, has emphasized the importance of transparent justice delivery and urged judges to act as ambassadors in restoring public trust in the profession.
She expressed concern that the public perceives the Court as a platform for oppression, leading to a reluctance in seeking justice for their grievances.
Justice Torkornoo made these remarks during the Commissioning Ceremony of a newly-built Circuit Court in Kwabenya, Dome Kwabenya Constituency.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including representatives from the Traditional Council and the security sector. Hon. Adwoa Sarfo, the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, and Elizabeth Kaakiemann, the MCE, were among the notable personalities present.
The Chief Justice commended the efforts of the Traditional Council and the Assembly in securing the land for the construction of the Court.
She emphasized the importance of making courts across the country welcoming and free from intimidating elements, ensuring that justice is accessible to all.
Justice Torkornoo also pledged her support towards the maintenance of the facility and called on everyone to play their part in preserving the current standards of the court.
