During the 147th Independence Day celebration of Liberia, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged the people of West Africa to firmly reject all forms of military takeovers within the jurisdiction of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
He emphasized that any attempts to change governments through unconstitutional means should not be tolerated in the sub-region.
The President’s call comes in the wake of media reports suggesting an attempted military takeover in Niger.
Expressing his concern over the prevailing insecurity in West Africa, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of putting an end to such instability to facilitate the much-needed development in the region.
